I Write The Line

(Sing to "I Walk The Line," by Johnny Cash)

I keep a close watch on this pen of mine
I keep my mind wide open all the time
My laptop is the tie that binds
Because it’s mine, I walk the line

It seems like my book is never through
Yes, I’ll admit not a word of it is true
A fiction writer writing just for you
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

I’ve worked all night and now it’s getting light
I keep on writing both day and night
I must sell books now since the money’s tight
Because it’s mine, I walk the line

Writing has a way to keep me on its side
I’m hooked for sure and that I cannot hide
I would be lost if my computer ever died
Because of you, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this pen of mine
I keep my mind wide open all the time
My laptop is the tie that binds
Because it’s mine, I walk the line
Because it’s mine, I walk the line

Remembering

high school chum Bob Thompson sent me this e-mail:

"I once knew a set of identical twins . WE rode Cushman scooters, swam and fished in Peckstien reservoir. cruised in a black SHOEBOX Ford that had flamed black and white tuck and roll, got BUSTED at the illegal Hourglass drags races out by Mirimar (Me- your POP- Walt and you.) I hope this is not a veiled biography of later days?????

Bob"

Memories flooded into my mind like fine wine and warmed my sense's with youthful recollections of wonderful times gone by. Bob also attached great pictures of his current classic cars, but I was unable to upload the pictures here. He always had the neatest cars in high school!

We look forward to our 50th. high school reunion in 2011, so we can reminisce in person while dancing to rock and roll music and acting like teenagers again.

Would I go back? No, I like who I am and where I am at now. But, it is nice to remember the good times and take the mental time machine back to a gentler era when things were so simple and life was innocent.

The Beauty of Nature

After signing up for my first ever radio interview that will be 30 minutes long (which is a lifetime), I hung up the phone, and immediately started the worry process. What if this and what if that started flashing through my pea-picking brain like an old Pong game. Soon I became a nervous wreck with all the worrying.

After a few moments of this torture, I thought to myself, What am I doing? This sucks! I Googled nature and started looking at all the wonderful pictures of earth, alive with color, life and splendor. It didn't take long for my problem to seem minuscule, without merit and unworthy.

Just like the Karen Drucker song says, "My religion is kindness, my church is nature. My God is a feeling that lives deep inside."

My spitits were lifted and worry just a faint memory. Life is so good!

I love Charlie Daniels Music

A friend told me that one time while fishing in east Texas, he ran out of worms right when the fishing was hot. As he stood there wondering what to do, a snake came by with a frog in his mouth. Thinking the frog would make good bait, my friend grabbed the critter behind the neck, removed the frog from the snakes mouth and threw it in the bait box. The trick now was how to release the viper without being bitten. My friend grabbed his bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little down the snakes gullet. After releasing a rather befuddled and tipsy snake a fair distance from the fishing spot, he resumed fishing.

A little while later, the snake returned with two frogs in his mouth.

I had the same thing happen to me once, but, low and behold, the damn snake came back, bit me on the ankle and left with a my half bottle of Jack.

I don't know what it is, but every time I hear Charlie Daniel's music, I think of Jack Daniels!

I'm just saying,
