Think Positive!

I started writing a blog on the situation of our economy and the stock market and only managed to get depressed. What started out as humor ended up very sad indeed.

Instead, I have decided to write about what is good and special about my life. First of all I have the perfect wife. I am not just saying that because she proofs my material, I am saying it because it is truth. She is the perfect wife and I love her beyond measure.

I also have the perfect life. With my wife, I share our home with two Chihuahuas (Taco and Gonzo), and a parrot named Pickles. Outside our house we provide for three semi-feral cats. Their names are Queenie, Bugs and Tippy. Queenie is the mother of Bugs and Tippy. We managed to have all three fixed so there will be no more kitten births in our shed. Queenie was left behind by her owners across the street and she adopted us. We had no clue she would give birth to four kittens. We managed to find homes for two and decided to keep Bugs and Tippy instead of a trip to the Humane Society. All three live comfortably in our shed and we feed them milk, dry food and canned food every day. They are warming up to us and we even get to pet them occasionally.

I do have a job with a contractor from Hawaii who wants to settle in Sedona someday. He has moved his wife and children to Sedona and commutes every other week back and forth from the Big Island. Right now my position is only part time, but this will change to full time soon. I am so lucky to be working; many Americans are not. My life is further enhanced by the kind of man I work for. He is honest, hardworking, fair, and pays his bills. We cannot say that about many general contractors in this area these days.

I have the greatest mother-in-law a guy could ask for. At 84, she is active, smart and humorous. When we get together, it’s all laughs and giggles. She says I am her favorite son-in-law, knowing I am her ONLY son-in-law. She is the only mother I have and I treat her accordingly. She moved with us to Arizona from Michigan after her husband passed away into her own home where she lives independently and enjoys life to the fullest.

I have an identical twin who lives in Tucson. Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer, but with new therapies, his PSA has been reduced from 280 to one point three. This means he will live longer and he plans to live well with the time he has left. Of course I love my brother and can’t stand the thought of losing him, but who knows – I may kick the bucket before he does and he will have to grieve instead of me.

I have a wonderful daughter who is about to graduate from NAU. She lives just a block away so I can keep an eye on her. Who am I kidding; she needs to keep an eye on her pops. I also have two sons (Jon and Kippy) who live in California. They are doing well and I am proud of them. I also have two stepsons who are the greatest. I couldn’t love them more if they were my own. I have other children, but we are not close and rarely communicate. I am saving them for another blog.

I have a half-sister who lives in Tucson and a step-brother and step-sister who live in northern California. Communication is sporadic, but such is the way of life in today’s world.

Did I mention I have a Harley? My Harley is the icing on the cake. What more could a man want? Perfect wife, life, Harley and living in beautiful northern Arizona….

Ed Brown's Garage

Admittedly, this is mostly a guy blog, but I couldn't resist showing off all of Ed's fantastic cars. His garage is the stuff guy's dreams are made of!

Let’s face it guys and gals, old Ed Brown has more “eye candy” than the law should allow.

It’s Bush’s Fault!

Here's an opinion piece by Chuck Green who writes "Greener Pastures" for the Denver Post Aurora Sentinel...one of the more liberal papers in the country. Additionally, Mr. Green is a lifelong Democrat...so this is rather a surprising piece...

"Obama is victim of Bush's failed promises! Barack Obama is setting a record-setting number of records during his first term in office:
Largest budget ever. Largest deficit ever. Largest number of broken
promises ever. Most self-serving speeches ever. Largest number of
agenda-setting failures ever. Fastest dive in popularity ever!

Wow! Talk about change.

Just one year ago, fresh from his inauguration celebrations, President Obama was flying high. After one of the nation's most inspiring political campaigns, the election of America’s first black president had captured the hopes and dreams of millions. To his devout followers, it was inconceivable that a year later his administration would be gripped in self-imposed crisis.

Of course, they don't see it as self-imposed. It's all George Bush's
fault!

George Bush, who doesn't have a vote in congress and who no longer
occupies The White House, is to blame for it all.

He broke Obama's promise, to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

He broke Obama's promise, to have the congressional health care
negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

He broke Obama's promise, to end earmarks.

He broke Obama's promise, to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

He broke Obama's promise, to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.

He broke Obama's promise, to make peace with direct; no precondition talks with America's most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation.

He broke Obama's promise, to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.

He broke Obama's promise, to end no-compete contracts with the government.

He broke Obama's promise, to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.

He broke Obama's promise, for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.

He broke Obama's promise, to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter of last year.

Yes, it's all George Bush's fault!!! President Obama is nothing more than a puppet in the never-ending failed Bush administration.

If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, all of President Obama's
problems would be solved. His promises would have been kept, the economy would be back on track, Iran would have stopped its work on developing a nuclear bomb and would be negotiating a peace treaty with Israel. North Korea would have ended its tyrannical regime, and integrity would have been restored to the federal government.

Oh, and did I mention what it would be like, if the Democrats, under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, didn't have the heavy yoke of George Bush around their necks? There would be no earmarks, no closed-door drafting of bills, no increase in deficit spending, no special-interest influence (unions), no vote buying (Nebraska,Louisiana).

If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, we'd have real change by now.

All the broken promises, all the failed legislation and delay (health care reform, immigration reform) are not President Obama's fault or the fault of the Democrat-controlled Congress. It's all George Bush's fault!

Take for example the decision of Eric Holder, the president's attorney
general, to hold terrorists' trials in New York City. Or his decision to try the Christmas Day underpants bomber as a civilian. Two disastrous decisions.

Certainly those were bad judgments based on poor advice from George Bush!

Need more proof?

You might recall that when Scott Brown won the election to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts, capturing "The Ted Kennedy Seat", President Obama said, Brown's victory was the result of the same voter anger that propelled Obama into office in 2008. People were still angry about George Bush and the policies of the past 10 years. And they wanted change.

Yes, according to the president, the voter rebellion in Massachusetts, was George Bush's fault.

Therefore, in retaliation, they elected a Republican to the Ted Kennedy seat, ending a half-century of domination by Democrats. It is all George Bush's fault!

Will the failed administration of George Bush ever end, and the time for hope and change ever arrive???

Will President Obama ever accept responsibility for something / anything?"

(Chuck Green is a veteran Colorado journalist and former editor-in-chief of The Denver Post.)

It’s Bush’s Fault!

"You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves."
-William J. H. Boetcker

Paradox: The government wants every citizen to be insured but the government does not require people to prove they are citizens?

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." -- Benjamin Franklin

I couldn’t have said any of the above even close to better,

Treadmill Aliens

Three times a week, I "Sharpen The Saw" with a wild and woolly workout. When I finish my workout program designed to help with arthritis due to 47 years in the construction industry, I jump on the treadmill for a 30 minute fast paced climb up Mt. Everest.

To keep from being bored out of my skull during all this excitement, I watch television. This morning my usual animal programs were all repeats, so I settled for an expose on the Military Channel about UFOs’, Aliens and Area 51.

“Hey, ma, it’s that alien crap again!”

Why am I drawn to this stuff? Could it be because I feel so alien all the time? My evil identical twin brother (www.murdermysteryevilinthemirror.com) and I were born with super large heads, our own secret language, simultaneous dreams, ESP and God only knows what else. We always knew our parents were mere earthlings, because they were so boring. I wondered if mom knew she was a victim of alien abduction, because it explains everything.

The day I turned 21, I told my mom about seeing a flying saucer while we were going to the San Diego County Fair in 1953.
“Why did you wait so long to say anything,” she replied?
“Simple, mom, you can’t have me committed after I become of age.”
“Silly boy, we could have committed you and your brother many times in the last 21 years had we wanted to.”

Humm, good point…

In any case, click on the title of this blog if you want to see what my bro and I looked like when we were ten years old.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Have a good day in spite of me,

Western Division Champs

This blog is for all of the doubting baseball fans who said the Diamondbacks could never win the Western Division this year. You also said we could never beat the Giants. Well, get your shorts in a bunch because we did both.

Now let's talk about the World Series...Oh, you forgot I said we are going to win the series on Facebook? Just call it the Nostradamus effect, un-bunch your wedgies, and get ready for the hammer to fall again ten years later!
